This is a desktop widget that allows you to view weather forecasts from AccuWeather.com and to search the web for anything using a dedicated function
Accu weather Forecast comes in the form of a desktop widget that fetches weather conditions. It acts as a client for AccuWeather.com, but provides a less conventional approach than most weather forecasters and not necessarily in a good way.
It comes in two separate forms: an installer, which is suited for Vista and XP users and a gadget file that targets Windows 7 computers. It depends on Flash Player to display the content, but this is the only dependency that you must deploy prior to using it.
As opposed to similar applications that provide meteorological reports inside the main UI, this gadget has a built-in location (State College, PA) for which it retrieves weather info with no possibility to change it whatsoever.
In order to view forecasts for other locations, it redirects you to a web page on AccuWeather.com, where you can manually search your whereabouts and get a complete overview of meteorological conditions for the current day or days ahead.
The widget lacks possibilities to change the unit temperature and any other customizations for that matter; however, you will be able to manage more parameters from AccuWeather’s website.
Another downside is the constant presence of advertisements inside the main window of the widget, despite the fact that there are options to close them.
Attached to the widget is a field dedicated to web searches, where you can enter keywords and retrieve Google search results in your default browser.
The above sum up the possibilities that Accu weather Forecast brings to the table. Users are supposed to perform weather searches themselves, which is an inacceptable approach for an independent application.

You tried to get weather information and received “N/A” for your location. Why?
If the current conditions aren’t available…
This usually means that there’s an issue with the weather observation equipment closest to your location. There could be a wide range of issues from communication, to damaged observation sensor(s). These observations are very valuable to NOAA's National Weather Service and are generally addressed in under 48 hours.
You can find observation information for other, alternative nearby locations by heading to weather.gov and using the “Local forecast by 'City, St' or ZIP code” box on that page. There you’ll find a “More Local Wx” link.
If both current and forecast information isn’t available…
The data stream that the National Weather Service provides for use at NOAA.gov is likely experiencing an issue. Again, another alternative is to go to weather.gov and use the “Local forecast by 'City, St' or ZIP code” box on that page to go to the full National Weather Service forecast page.

How does this weather widget work?
When you enter your ZIP code or City, ST on the NOAA.gov web page, the

site communicates the information to a service provided by the National Weather Service and forecast and observation information for that location is displayed in return. It is all the same information you can find by heading to weather.gov and using the “Local forecast by 'City, St' or ZIP code” box on that page.
The information is provided by what is called an Application Program Interface (API) via an HTTP request over the internet. You can
leverage that same information in applications you develop! This is the format of the URL: forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=32.7&lon=-97.3&FcstType=json&callback=jsonCallback

If you have any specific questions about the use of this API, please email nco.ops@noaa.gov
